This is an exciting Lenten series for those who are questioning the pat answers about Jesus from the institutional church – and looking to find the real Jesus in their lives.\u00a0 In essence, this is an informal, six-part group book study of two books led by the authors themselves:<\/p>\n

Freeing Jesus: Rediscovering Jesus as Friend, Teacher, Savior, Lord, Way, and Presence<\/strong><\/em> – by Dr. Diana Butler Bass and<\/p>\n

The Homebrewed Christianity Guide to Jesus: Lord, Liar, Lunatic . . . Or Awesome?<\/strong><\/em> – by Dr. Tripp Fuller<\/p>\n

We will meet each Sunday night at 7:00 pm to view Diana and Tripp’s presentation on the cinema screen, and then will have a group discussion.\u00a0 Participants will be able to participate in a closed Facebook group and submit questions directly to the authors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>

Is there a cost?\u00a0<\/strong> We will ask participants to make a contribution as they are able to cover the actual costs of the workshops. But if you can’t afford to make a contribution, the church will cover the expense.<\/p>\n

Do I have to buy the books?<\/strong> No, the workshop will be a full and meaningful experience even if you don’t purchase and read the books.\u00a0 But the books will greatly enhance the experience.\u00a0 We will have some loaner copies available.<\/p>\n

Is there Childcare?\u00a0<\/strong> Yes, we will provide childcare, especially for ages 3-8.\u00a0 Please sign up your child on the registration form if you need childcare.<\/p>\n

Do I have to attend each session in person?<\/strong> No, there will be a virtual option.\u00a0 Participants will receive a link to view each presentation, and the discussion will include a Zoom option.\u00a0 However, we hope you can attend most sessions and discussions in person.<\/p>\n

What about Covid?<\/strong>\u00a0 We will be meeting in the Reich Fellowship Hall, which is equipped with hospital-grade HEPA filters.\u00a0 Social distancing will be observed, and we expect all attendees to wear masks.\u00a0 If you are sick (either with Covid or any other illness) we ask you to stay at home and participate virtually.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div>

Do I have to be a member to attend?\u00a0<\/strong> NO, the workshops are open to anyone, whether they are Moravians, Lutherans, Episcopalians, Methodists, Roman Catholic, Unitarian, or nothing at all!<\/p>\n

Will I agree with everything the authors present?<\/strong> Hahahahahahahahaha! Not a chance.\u00a0 But you will find the questions they raise intriguing and provocative, and they may make you refine what you believe.\u00a0 The opinions of authors and participants are their own, and are not endorsed by Trinity Moravian Church, the Southern Province, or the Pope.<\/p>\n
